Right of Youth to participate in political life:
Campaign definition:
The Palestinian diaspora society is classified as a young society, where young people between the ages of 19 to 35 years constitute 63% of the total Palestinian refugees, according to the results of the general census carried out by the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, in partnership with the Lebanese Central Administration of Statistics and the Statistics Authority year 2017.
However, they are still not satisfactorily politically represented in the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian nationalist factions, and they are almost excluded from any youth strategy set by the Palestinian stakeholders.
Like all Palestinians in the Diaspora, they are to this day denied the right to participate in choosing their representatives at the level of the Palestine Liberation Organization or even at the level of the Palestinian Legislative Council.
The aim of the campaign:
In this campaign, we proceed from the importance of the role of youth in society and the importance of their presence and participation in bringing about real change in the Palestinian social and political reality and building a new vision for the Palestinian reality in the diaspora and inside, based on the results of previous experiences and taking into account the current regional and international changes.
Through this campaign, we seek to influence the Palestinian youth to demand their political rights, and to put pressure on the Palestinian factions by the mandatory implementation of the internal regulations on the basis of which these factions were established, including the youth party quota, and to support the youth’s access to leadership partisan positions and decision-making centers.
In this campaign, we will address topics related to freedom of opinion and political expression, a unified political identity, and the participation of refugees in the Palestinian elections, through the publication of many videos and related posters, in addition to awareness sessions, dialogue sessions and various activities that serve the objectives of the campaign.
