Microcredit Project Empowering Palestinian Refugee Women in Lebanon Funded by: Fons Menorquí de Cooperació This project, launched in mid-2024, aims to strengthen the economic independence of Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon, particularly in the camps of Ein al-Hilweh, Burj al-Barajneh, Beddawi, and Nahr al-Bared. It provides interest-free microloans and practical training to support women in launching or expanding small businesses, while promoting community engagement and long-term sustainability. Target Group Palestinian refugee women aged 18 to 50, residing in the targeted camps, who have viable business ideas or existing projects and are not receiving similar support from UNRWA or other institutions. Main Activities ● Microcredit Provision: Disbursing interest-free loans to eligible women to start or grow small businesses. ● Capacity Building: Delivering training workshops in business management, financial planning, marketing, and feasibility analysis. ● Evaluation System: Implementing a transparent and efficient process to assess applications and monitor progress. ● Community Engagement: Organizing exhibitions, networking events, and awareness campaigns to connect beneficiaries and promote their work. ● Sustainability Mechanism: Establishing a revolving fund model through loan repayment and reinvestment to support future beneficiaries. Impact The project empowers refugee women as agents of development, creativity, and resilience, contributing to a more just and united society within the camps.
This project aims to strengthen the Nuwat Association's administrative and financial capabilities by training employees and volunteers on several administrative and financial skills.
The primary objective of Socio-economic empowerment for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon project is to enhance equal access and control of economic resources among Palestinian refugee women in Ein El Helweh, Burj El-Barajneh, Beddawi, and Naher Al-Bared camps.
Self-determination is the right of peoples to take their future in their own hands and determine the path and political options that they deem appropriate, including forming their governments without external influence and determining the form of government.
The project aimed at increasing positive civic values, decreasing negative civic values, and enhancing social cohesion.
It is a youth project that works to enhance the capabilities of young people in terms of human rights related to refugees
As part of commemorating the Nakba, the Microcredit Team, in coordination with the Alternative School, organized a purposeful educational activity for the children of Nuwat Kindergarten. The activity included a video presentation titled "The Key" to introduce our Palestinian cause, followed by a simple discussion about the meanings of homeland and the right of return. The activity concluded with coloring pictures expressing belonging and hope for return.

As part of the Seeds of Independence project and to promote solidarity between Palestinian refugees and the Sahrawi people, Nuwat Association welcomed a delegation from the Saharawi Voice organization, who provided valuable training to members of the Seeds of Independence network on " Storytelling skills for advocacy and engagement." The participants shared their experiences in struggle and their tools for conveying the voice of the cause to the world. An inspiring meeting brought together two struggles united by justice and freedom.

In joint coordination between Sama Association and Nawa Association, a training course was conducted for the students of the “Violet Home” Project – Dropout Division, under the supervision of a specialized trainer. The course, titled “Young Women’s Project Management at Minimal Cost,” included several training sessions aimed at developing the participants’ leadership and management skills. The sessions covered key topics such as team roles, the importance of planning, and fostering teamwork and responsibility. Violet Home project is funded by Caritas Espanola.

As part of regular networking activities with entrepreneurs to empower beneficiaries, we met with Dr. Mohammed Owaid, Executive Director of the International Academy for Building Capacity (IABC), in a special session with beneficiaries of the microcredit project, where he shared his rich entrepreneurial experience. The meeting was a real opportunity to spread the culture of entrepreneurship, enhance cooperation, explore partnership opportunities, and build successful business relationships.
