Main Branch - Ein El-Helweh

Ein al-Helweh camp is one of the largest and most important Palestinian refugee’s camps in Lebanon. It is the largest in terms of population, as more than 47,500 Palestinian refugees live in it, according to UNRWA statistics, while many estimates see that the population in Ain El-Hilweh camp has reached about eighty thousand people or more, due to its reception of many Palestinian refugees whose camps were destroyed during the Lebanese civil war and as a result of the war in Syria, it is the largest in terms of structural overcrowding and the most important because of its population density, its political diversity and its proximity to the Lebanese environment.
As a result of the large number of educational, social, economic, health problems, etc., which the camp suffers from, the association, was established in 1998, in order to protect children from falling into the pitfalls of illiteracy and ignorance and then homelessness and exploitation and to satisfy their love of learning to achieve their goals and hopes for the future, and the consolidation of cultural identity, linking the local community with its heritage, raising the educational level of children, addressing the phenomenon of school dropout, protecting children from exploitation, early employment, early marriage and delinquency, as well as increasing women’s participation in social activities, in order to provide a large base for the advancement of the society nucleus (children and youth), from any negative influence that could stand as an obstacle to their learning and the realization of their ambitions. It was necessary to have a school dropout section for youngsters and learning support, to achieve what was mentioned above.
To be a leading institution in the field of social, educational, service and economic work for marginalized groups in Lebanon of all nationalities, especially within the camp, to raise the level of academic and vocational education, and to empower youth and women in society to participate in decision-making through advocacy campaigns and encourage initiatives, in prior coordination with NGOs and local authorities, by adopting honesty and transparency in work, belonging to institutional work, working in an ambitious team spirit, proficiency and discipline.
The ambitions and aspirations that we started with, despite many challenges, led us to establish permanently Naji Al-Ali Library, Jaffa Women’s Sports Club, the Palestinian Child Club, the Alternative School and many diverse youth initiatives, and now we have five centers in five Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon
