New Beam of Life

“My husband is Syrian and I am Lebanese. Neither the UNHCR, nor the Lebanese ministry of public health accepted to cover percentage from the fees of my delivery “. Fatima When Fatima was trying to find an institution to help her, she was informed about the New Beam of Life Project as it helped her by covering a large amount of the fees of her delivery as well as the fees of the Intensive care unit of the neonates as her baby needed to stay there for two days after being born. Also, she added “The milk that the association distribute to my daughter was very helpful as the price of milk container is very high and sometimes it is difficult for us to find the milk in the pharmacies.” Helping women in our project is not only limited to covering the costs related to childbirth, but we also work to educate women about their pregnancy period and also to improve women’s mental health through awareness and psychological sessions, as Fatima mentioned the following “The awareness sessions that you give us concerning pregnancy and mental health gives us a lot of useful information about our pregnancy period and how to deal with the changes that we may have through this period.”

Jineen joined our project and got all the support she needed as we made a customized plan for her starting from improving her academic performance to changing her thoughts. Also, through the psychological and social sessions and other activities we implement in our project about protecting young girls from early marriage. All of these activities played a great role in affecting Jineen's thoughts about marrying. Jineen now became aware that such a decision should be taken in a conscious pattern as well as she is getting the highest marks in her class, her performance noticeably has improved. She is proud of herself and she is willing to give more. New Beam of Life

To know how the New Beam of Life project helped the pregnant women and mothers we asked them about the services and their answers were as follows: “This project helped us a lot as the fees paid to the doctors are very simple compared to the medical fees paid in other hospitals, also the presence of the hospital inside the camp helped us a lot, as this doesn’t cost us extra fees (Transportation Fees). The Awareness sessions and the posters on the social media are of Great importance as they give us information which help us during pregnancy” “I can visit the doctor every month to make sure that my fetus is in a good health and this would be impossible to me without the help of the project services. If I want to visit a gynecologist outside the framework of the project, I will not be able to pay the fees because the prices for external examinations have become very high, and paying these amounts has become impossible in light of the difficult economic conditions we are passing through.” “This project was of a great importance to me as it helped me a lot before and after delivery especially by helping me in the milk needed for my baby as I find a lot of difficulties in getting it”. “I can take my daughter who was born within the project when she became sick to the doctor in the hospital benefiting from the card issued from the association. The low cost that I pay for consultation helps me by being able to pay for the medications that my daughter needs especially in the bad economic situations we are passing through”.
