Eating disorders are characterized by severe and persistent changes in eating behaviours, along with associated distressing thoughts and feelings, such as preoccupation with food, body weight, and shape, or even anxiety about eating or the consequences of consuming certainfoods. Pregnant women and mothers are especially vulnerable, facing unique physical challenges and societal pressures regarding body image and parenting. To address these concerns, the psychologist within the New Beam of Life project organized an awareness session for pregnant women and mothers. This session educated participants about eating disorders, highlighted key signs and symptoms, and offered coping strategies. The initiative aims to empower these women to prioritize their mental and physical health while navigating the challenges of motherhood and maintaining a healthy relationship with food.
This project is implemented with funds from Caritas Española.
