January is recognized as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. This cancer occurs in the cervix, and nearly all cases (99%) are linked to the human papillomavirus (HPV).
In this context, the coordinator of the New Beam of Life project organized an educational session focusing on several key aspects of cervical cancer. The session provided information about the causes and risk factors associated with the disease, effective screening methods such as Pap smears and HPV tests, and the importance of early detection in improving health outcomes. Participants also learned about the HPV vaccine, including its safety, effectiveness, and the ideal age for vaccination. Additionally, the session highlighted the role of lifestyle choices in reducing cancer risks.
This project is implemented with funds from Caritas Española.
