Microcredit Project

Microcredit Project Empowering Palestinian Refugee Women in Lebanon Funded by: Fons Menorquí de Cooperació This project, launched in mid-2024, aims to strengthen the economic independence of Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon, particularly in the camps of Ein al-Hilweh, Burj al-Barajneh, Beddawi, and Nahr al-Bared. It provides interest-free microloans and practical training to support women in launching or expanding small businesses, while promoting community engagement and long-term sustainability. Target Group Palestinian refugee women aged 18 to 50, residing in the targeted camps, who have viable business ideas or existing projects and are not receiving similar support from UNRWA or other institutions. Main Activities ● Microcredit Provision: Disbursing interest-free loans to eligible women to start or grow small businesses. ● Capacity Building: Delivering training workshops in business management, financial planning, marketing, and feasibility analysis. ● Evaluation System: Implementing a transparent and efficient process to assess applications and monitor progress. ● Community Engagement: Organizing exhibitions, networking events, and awareness campaigns to connect beneficiaries and promote their work. ● Sustainability Mechanism: Establishing a revolving fund model through loan repayment and reinvestment to support future beneficiaries. Impact The project empowers refugee women as agents of development, creativity, and resilience, contributing to a more just and united society within the camps.

Violet Home

Violet Home Project Reduction of the vulnerability of refugee girls and adolescent girls in Lebanon. This project is designed to protect and empower refugee girls and adolescent girls in Lebanon by strengthening their access to education, psychosocial support, life skills, and community protection mechanisms. It prioritizes safeguarding their rights, mitigating vulnerabilities, and advancing gender equality in line with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Initiated in 2020, the project continues to operate in Ein Al-Helweh and Nahr Al-Bared camps, providing sustained support to enhance the safety, development, and resilience of refugee girls. Target Group: school-enrolled refugee girls in need of remedial education (grades 7–12). Dropped out-of-school refugee girls requiring alternative basic education Girls and adolescents participating in psychosocial, life-skills, and advocacy activities highly vulnerable refugee families. Mothers through participating in awareness sessions. Community actors, decision-makers, and camp stakeholders engaged in advocacy. Main Activities: Education Support: - Remedial Education: Providing academic support classes to school-enrolled girls from grade 7 to grade 12. - Alternative Education: Offering non-formal basic education to out-of-school girls and adolescents. - Digital Literacy: Training out-of-school girls to use the Internet and computer programs. - Scholarships: Providing vocational scholarships to girls enrolled in alternative education. - Library Access: Carrying out structured activities in the women’s library and Internet center. Psychosocial Support: - Psychological Services: Implementing individual sessions and group sessions. - Awareness for Girls: Implementing awareness-raising sessions on mental health, safety, and rights. - Life-Skills Development: Conducting life-skills activities focused on confidence, communication, and leadership. Leisure & Outdoor Activities: Implementing recreational and outdoor activities to support well-being. Advocacy Course: Providing specialized advocacy and lobbying training for girls. Student-Led Initiatives: Supporting initiatives led by girls themselves. Sports Participation: Enrolling girls and adolescents in the Women’s Sports Center. Family & Community Engagement: - Food Support: Distributing monthly food rations to vulnerable families of the enrolled girls. - Awareness for Mothers: Conducting awareness sessions for mothers on girls’ rights and early marriage. - Girls–Mothers Joint Activities: Implementing recreational activities to strengthen family bonds. - Community Awareness Sessions: Conducting sessions to promote girls’ rights and gender equality. Advocacy Meetings: Holding meetings with socio-political actors in the camps to address early marriage and reinforce girls’ protection. Media & Outreach: - Awareness Campaign: Launching a media campaign to promote gender equality and reject early marriage. - School-Based Awareness: Implementing awareness sessions in schools on the importance of education. Impact: The project empowers refugee girls by enhancing their education, safety, confidence, leadership, and community participation. It strengthens family and community support, addresses harmful practices like early marriage, and fosters a safer, more equitable environment. Through educational, psychosocial, and advocacy interventions, the project promotes gender equality and protects the rights of vulnerable girls and adolescents.

Alternative School

Alternative school Project This project, launched in 1998, aims to strengthen the protection, well-being, and developmental opportunities of Palestinian refugee children living in Lebanon, specifically in Ein Al-Hilweh Camp and Beddawi Camp. By improving access to education, psychosocial support, life skills, and community engagement, the project promotes children’s rights and fosters a supportive environment that enhances their safety, confidence, and inclusion. Target Group ● Dropout out-of-school Palestinian refugee children. ● vulnerable preschool-aged children (age 4-5) in need of early learning support ● Parents and caregivers through awareness and guidance sessions ● Community members, decision-makers, and camp stakeholders engaged in advocacy ● Children participating in summer camps, and recreational activities Main Activities Education Support ● Alternative Education: Providing structured classes for 60 out-of-school children in Ein El-Hilweh, Beddawi, and Burj al-Barajneh to rebuild foundational academic skills. ● Preschool Program: Implementing a 12-month early learning intervention for 20 vulnerable preschoolers to strengthen school readiness and developmental progress. Psychosocial Support ● Life-Skills Sessions: Conducting sessions in each center to enhance communication, leadership, emotional expression, and social interaction. ● Outdoor Activities: Implementing outdoor activity in each camp to promote teamwork, positive engagement, and emotional well-being. ● Awareness Sessions: Delivering sessions focused on children’s rights, protection, and acceptance of diversity. ● Group Psychological Support: Providing group sessions in each camp to build resilience, self-confidence, and emotional stability. ● Individual Psychological Support: Offering personalized psychological sessions for children who require tailored intervention. Leisure & Recreation ● Implementing recreational activities in each camp to promote stress relief, creativity, and positive peer interaction. Online Episodes ● Producing live online episodes (10–20 minutes each) that allow children to share experiences, challenges, and reflections related to their rights and well-being. Summer Camp – “Rights for All” ● Organizing a thematic summer camp focused on rights, diversity, arts, music, and theater to strengthen self-expression and confidence. Family & Community Engagement ● Parental Awareness Sessions: Conducting sessions to strengthen parents’ and community members’ understanding of children’s rights and protection. ● Advocacy Campaign: Launching an advocacy initiative on World Children’s Day to promote equality, non-discrimination, and protection for all children. ● Community Rights Activity: Implementing a camp-wide activity to promote awareness of children’s rights and collective responsibility. ● Stakeholder Engagement: Holding meetings with decision-makers, activists, and networks to strengthen community commitment to child rights. Impact This project supports Palestinian refugee children by improving access to education, psychological support, and safe community spaces. It builds confidence, leadership, and awareness of rights, while promoting inclusion, resilience, and positive family and community engagement.
